A Sprinting Love Affair

I hate to sweat

But baby we did good together

I was marred by uncertainty

Unsure if I could go the distance

But you were there

Sturdy. Steady. A reliable cushion.

Better yet because we fit so well

So I flew to that place where the world fell away

 And dreams lived

As my mind raked in our surrounding

And from now distant speakers Jessie’s Bang Bang filtered

Through the pores of my consciousness

I have always thought her a queer one

But today even the music was in perfect sync with our motion

Till your voice broke me out of my reverie …..

….Go Faster

And I did…..

Tuning in to the maniacal grind as we moved

Thump Thump Thump

Was that us or the music of my heart?

But baby did we dance

Until my blood grew so hot

It gave me a heady feeling

…..and I knew it was time

My fingers slid down the cool contour of your body

Hovered at that spot for a brief second

….and hit STOP

Well done, you crooned. Let’s do this again.

Today marks Day 3 of my morning running routine; something I’ve managed to put off for so long.

The feeling has been exhilarating that I’m forced to wonder why I ever bothered to stop for over a year now.

Running has been one of the few things that puts a shine on my day; better yet because the motions has never been a weight loss nor fitness routine. It’s just for the love of it.

So whatever is your routine: drinking that first cup of coffee, watching as the sun kisses the sky with a golden touch, dropping your kids off at school, running, whatever, just hold and make it a love experience.

Because some day, when the craziness peculiar to this world finds its way to your doorstep, it will be your singular hold to sanity.

Oh wow. You really do love running. I’m not a huge fan of running, but I still do it after my daily exercise routine. As for mornings… a cup of coffee and my quiet time. I loooovvvvve this time.

You can’t come from a family of athletes and not love to run.
Coffee, the rich smell is hmmmm and that quiet time does put the world back into perspective.

      Thanks Staci

Hahaha. Yes, true. I’m certified in fitness and nutrition and have been a fitness junkie for quite a while now. I used to be literally addicted, but having kids changed that. Now I need to fit it in during the day, and generally only on weekdays.

Yes, coffee and quiet time. Gotta be done. Love them.
