Hello Reader, Visitor, Friend . . . You awesome Bot!

My name is Uju. I’m a Nigerian in love with Jesus, people, cute animals and most times bread.  My favourite things are books – or generally thoughtful stories, cameras and a bottle of Coke (I hope the big guys pay me for this). My most cherished moments are those times on transit when I get to stare out the window and mentally travel, capturing moments from behind a camera and teasing people wickedly.

I blog because . . . well, because nothing really at first, but after a year I’ve become addicted to the communal liquor of conversations and community. And no, I don’t stumble around belching loudly (Okay, I try not to). You can read about that journey here.

So I write about the things I perceive. About life, culture, society and everything I imagine lurks in the dark or grey areas beneath the surface of our actions. But sometimes I write about me and new stuff I’m trying my hands at. i can quite withdrawn and shy so there will be a whole lot of self-discovery and ‘growing up’ happening here too.

I am totally in love with the game of puzzle (words, picture and Sudoku) because I like to unravel things piece by piece and I love that aha! moment when something finally takes shape. When the answers aren’t forthcoming and I’m in a stupefied funk–and I confess that happens often enough—I depend on the wisdom of others.

I guess what I’m trying to say is: I think A LOT. I push and move pieces around, searching for the perfect ‘fit’, or understand why they won’t fit-in at least. It’s a lot like a tussle between Idealism vs. Realism. Underneath an almost cool exterior lies an obsessive desire to understand the ‘why’ of every situation.

That’s it (for now). If you don’t mind rummaging through your mind and looking beyond the surface to understand the workings of the human mind and/or how things affect us, then you may like it here, decide to stick around, and hopefully you won’t be too shy to share your thoughts with a sometimes befuddled young female. I will love to read from you!

See you around and do let me know you came by. I’d like to stalk you too 😀

Hi! Nice to have you around.
Yes, I’m Nigerian. Stay in Lagos. I hope you enjoyed your stay in Ibadan. What brought you around, work? Did you get to visit other states while you were here?

What I love best about your About is the sense that you laugh a lot. You may not do it out loud, but I think you laugh. You’ve also given me an opportunity to at least chuckle here today. I enjoyed your sense of humor. Much appreciated in a post! I also love that you are a visual being. Aren’t we blessed to have eyes to see?. All our senses are blessings, but our eyes are precious. There’s so much on this wonderful earth to enjoy with our eyes. I suspect everyday is a joy to behold for you. At least I pray so. Highest and Best young lady!!!

I admire people that can “capture” themselves so well in their bios.
I struggle and end up writing something so abstract haha. I enjoyed this.

I’ve been looking for more African bloggers to follow. Pleased to meet you 🙂

Thanks for the follow Uju. I know am going to like it here ….quoting Annie. I loved to hear stories of boarding schools all of it, good, bad, wonderful and ugly ones both within Nigeria and out. Nigerians attending boarding overseas must have been a whole different story given different culture and people from all walks of life.

Yoruba Girl Dancing by Simi Bedford detailed the 60’s era of Nigerians in the UK boarding schools, I bet yours would be slightly different experience.
